As much as we emphasize our exchange programs abroad, we fail to highlight the many exchange students we have right here at Purdue University. One of our exchange students, Jokke Nurminen, has taken some time to enlighten us on both his home country of Sweden and his experiences so far here at Purdue.

1.) Where are you from in Sweden?
Leksand, it's a small town in the middle of nowhere.

2.) What university did you attend back home?
Uppsala University

3.) What is your favorite memory about Sweden?
Midsummer at home partying with friends

4.) Where is your favorite place to visit in Sweden?
Home, I get to eat my mom's food and just relax.

5.) What kinds of activities did you do in your free time back home?
Played soccer, partied (just a little bit), worked out.

6.) Why did you decide to come to Purdue University?
I had a few schools to choose from but I heard a little bit about Purdue and I also called people I knew in the U.S and they agreed that Purdue was a good school. The fact that I didn't want to go to a big city also made Purdue my choice.

7.) What is your favorite thing about Purdue?
That I have met a lot of fun people and of course all the great classes I'm taking.

8.) What was the hardest thing to adapt to?
To have so many classes and exams, I still have a hard time with it.

9.) What is one major difference between Sweden and the US?
The Language!

10.) What is one major difference between Purdue and your University back home?
As mentioned before, the difference in how many classes you take and the many exams, in the lower level classes it feels like being back in High School because of the control the professors try to have over you. In Sweden it's up to yourself if you want to do good in school.

11.) What is one thing that Americans do or say that seems extremely odd to you?
"What's up" since it really don't mean that they are wondering how you are doing.  Also, Michael Starks is odd, and we don't have odd people in Sweden. :)

12.) What has been your favorite experience at Purdue so far?
Breakfast Club last semester was a really fun thing.
