Paid Teaching & Volunteering Opportunities in Beijing

Tsinghua University is seeking native speakers of English as short-term teachers and volunteers at its English Summer Camp, taking place in Beijing July 5 - 27, 2007.  Purdue students and faculty are encouraged to apply. 

  • Teachers will receive free accommodation (July 3 - 29, 2007) plus a stipend of 10,000 RMB Yuan (around $1,200 USD) per person. 
  • Volunteers will receive free accommodation (July 3 - 29, 2007) plus a stipend of 1,000 RMB Yuan per person (around $120 USD). Those applying to be Teachers should have at least a Bachelor’s degree. 

Approximately 3200 Tsinghua students will take part in the camp on the Tsinghua University campus.  This intensive English program is meant to help the students to build or improve their English language skills through a mix of formal classroom instruction, lectures, seminars and other activities such as singing, dancing and playing games.  Teachers and Volunteers will work with a Chinese coordinator, foreign volunteers, and Tsinghua student volunteers in a team effort.

Tsinghua University, located in northwest Beijing, is a leading institution of higher education in China, offering a high-quality education to talented students. Application deadlines: 
  • Teachers: No later than March 1, 2007
  • Volunteers: No later than April 1, 2007
