2008 Study Abroad Photo Contest is Open

You can enter up to three photos from your experiences abroad to encourage others to go out into the world for adventures and learning like yours, AND to compete for prizes.  

CONTEST RULES

  • Purdue students who were/are registered for a Study Abroad program in Fall 2007, Spring 2008 or Summer 2008 are eligible to enter
  • All photos must have been taken by the student entering them
  • Entries from professional photographers not allowed
  • Each person may enter only three photos in the competition, but you are welcome to send more than three if you would like to offer them for use in our publications, our website, etc. 
  • Entries become the property of Purdue's Office of Programs For Study Abroad (but note that we have no intention of selling them)
  • Entries must be received by 5:00 PM, Aug. 1, 2008

 SUGGESTED SUBJECTS

  • Recognizably "international" settings (i.e. monuments, wildlife or buildings typical of your program site, or of a place you visited)
  • A local cultural activity, or favorite experience
  • Local people 
  • Picturesque landscapes that convey the unique character of the place in question 

Any of the above will get special attention if they include Purdue students.

TO SUBMIT AN ENTRY

  • Put "Photo Contest" in the subject line of your message.  In the body of the message, tell us ... 
  • your name
  • your study abroad program
  • where & when you took each photo
  • a one-line description of each photo
  • Send your photo files to ecougill@purdue.edu   

HOW TO NAME YOUR FILES 

Any photos that you enter must be named like this: 

  • Country_Your Last Name_Number of photo.jpg.  

For example...

  • France_Smith_2.jpg
  • China_Anderson_1.jpg  

PRIZES 

The 2008 winners will be announced at the Welcome Reception in August.  Any entry may be used on the Study Abroad website or in promotional literature.  Even if you don't win a prize, you may well see your photo on our website, on the calendar that we print each year, or in a promotional booklet or brochure.
