Posted: 30-Nov-07

The East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes (EAPSI) program, sponsored by the National Science Foundation, offers an opportunity for Purdue graduate students to study abroad (in Australia, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, or Taiwan) and to work with foreign researchers for eight weeks during the summer.

In 2008, the EAPSI awards will include a stipend of $5,000, an allowance for international travel, and support to attend a pre-departure orientation in Washington DC. Foreign co-sponsoring organizations will provide additional support to cover EAPSI students' living expenses abroad.

Eligible students can come from biological sciences, computer and information science and technology, STEM education, engineering, geosciences, math, plus social, behavioral or economic sciences.

Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents of the US.   The EAPSI website has substantial information not mentioned in this emailincluding abstracts of recent awards.

The application deadline is December 12, 2007.

** Students who apply must inform Dr. Brian Harley, Assistant Dean of International Programs and Director of the Office of Programs for Study Abroad (bharley@purdue.edu) so that he can complete administrative arrangements required by Purdue. **
