TRANSFERRING STUDY ABROAD COURSES TO PURDUE TRANSCRIPTS
Course equivalencies and credit and grade transfer for Purdue study abroad programs are all determined by study abroad liaisons and/or faculty. Course equivalencies and credit transfer for non-Purdue study abroad programs are handled by Transfer Credit Evaluation in Admissions (for programs through a US-accredited institution) or ISS (for study abroad where there is no US sponsor or US-sponsored programs which do not issue a formal, US-type transcript).
The following steps outline the process for translating transcripts from Purdue study abroad programs into Purdue transcripts:
-
The student's official study abroad transcript is sent to the Study Abroad Office.
-
A copy is sent to the student.
-
The original is placed in the student's file.
-
-
Study abroad courses are converted to Purdue courses.
-
If the courses on the study abroad transcript correspond to those listed on the Course Approval form in the student's file, the Study Abroad Office records the Purdue equivalents onto the Study Abroad Course Equivalency form. (Grades are converted according to nationally-accepted grading scales.) The Study Abroad Course Equivalency form and a copy of the student's original study abroad transcript is forwarded to the Registrar's Office for posting to the academic record.
-
If the courses on the study abroad transcript differ from those listed on the Course Approval form in the student's file, the Study Abroad Offics sends a copy of the transcript to the appropriate study abroad liaison along with relevant course descriptions. The liaison determines the course equivalencies and credit hours to be awarded and returns this information to the Study Abroad Office. The Study Abroad Course Equivalency form and a copy of the student's original study abroad transcript is forwarded to the Registrar's Office for posting to the academic record.

Note: IPIA transfers credit for its own study abroad programs.
