My Study Abroad
The Ebbeler International Scholarship

Deadline: March 1, 2010 for programs during Summer 2010, Fall 2010, and Academic Year 2010-2011.

Amount:  $1,000

Source of funds:  Through the generosity of Jonathan W. Ebbeler (Economics, 1995), the Ebbeler International Scholarship endowment has been established to support Purdue students participating in study abroad.

Eligibility:  Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and have applied to study abroad preferably for an academic year.  Preference will be given to students participating in Denmark's International Study Program, a German-language-based program, or another foreign-language-based program, in that order.

How to apply:  After you apply for a Study Abroad program, log in to your My Study Abroad page.  Further instructions will be included in a green box.

Application guidelines: An application consists of an essay in response to the points listed below. Each answer is limited to 250 words.

  • Discuss a cultural, political, economic, or social aspect of your host country and relate it to your personal goals and objectives in choosing to study there.
  • What financial constraints do you have?  If necessary, describe changes in financial standing (i.e. recent loss of income), additional family expenses due to illness or death, or other unique circumstances (i.e. non-contributing parent, loss of aid/scholarship while studying abroad, etc.)

Selection: Scholarship applications from students planning to study abroad in Summer 2010, Fall 2010, or Academic Year 2010-2011 will be evaluated after March 1, 2010.  Students currently studying abroad, or who have already returned from studying abroad, are not eligible to apply for this award.

Funds are limited, and awards are usually granted shortly after the Study Abroad application deadline of March 1, 2010.

Deadline: March 01, 2010

Scholarship Type: Study Abroad Office Based Scholarships
