The biochemistry research study abroad program provides students with a number of options for a mentored summer research experience at the Heinrich-Heine Universität Düsseldorf (HHUD). The research projects emphasize molecular approaches and utilize a wide variety of biological systems, including plants, mammalian tissue cultures, mice, bacteria, fungi, viruses, etc. Each Purdue student is paired with a German graduate student mentor or postdoctoral fellow, who provides one-on-one instruction and supervision. Each student will be expected to learn enough about the procedures and the biological system to be able to contribute to designing experiments, analyzing data, and preparing a Power Point presentation at the end of the summer research experience. Previous research experience is required.
