Program Description

We will run two programs in 2020:

A French Lived Experience (June 8-28)

A European Lived Experience: Culture & Fashion (June 29-July 19)

Students will be allowed to appply for one or both programs as part of a dual trip)

France is renowned for its influence on the world's gastronomy, art, fashion, literature and philosophy. Too often we associate this influence with major metropolitan areas such as Paris. However, this historic tradition stems from regions all across France, especially the small countryside villages. While we will visit some well-known locations, this trip will not be all about visiting museums and sitting at cafes. Rather, we plan to immerse ourselves in all that France has to offer. By visiting multiple locations, you will have the opportunity to compare and contrast the similarities and differences found throughout France as well as compare these similarities and differences with our own culture,

Along this journey, you will be working towards personal and intercultural goals. We'll be there to guide you and help push you outside your comfort zone.

We hope that you will join us on this exciting and unforgettable experience!

You do not need to know French to apply to the program (and this program does not teach students to speak French).

Academic Credit

6-credit hours in the summer

In addition, students MUST enroll for a Spring Course titled Intercultural Development (Tuesday from 6-9pm).

The 3-credit hour course is required in order to do the summer study abroad.

Once students are accepted into the program they receive permission to add the course to their schedules.

***In the end, you will receive 3 credits for the spring class plus 6 credit hours for the summer study abroad making it a total of 9 credit hours!

Undergraduates are eligible.

Students must complete a pre-interview questionnaire sent through email to them.

Then, students will be asked to meet the instructors. Students are interviewed because we have many more applicants than we have spots on the trip.

We do not look for a specific type of student (we often accept students from all years in school, majors, and backgrounds). We look for insightful students who are interested in French culture, nature, and willingness to engage in mindful reflection.

Program Cost

cost of the program depends on whether you qualify for a MOVE Scholarship

Please note: MOVE Scholarships are only available to students who fill out a FAFSA with financial aid and their parents make less than $250,000.
