University: Founded in 1831, the University of Hannover has an enrollment of about 24,000 students. The nine Faculties include architecture, education, engineering, horticulture, humanities, management, science and social sciences. Link here for more university information. Location: Hannover is the captial of Niedersachsen, a state in north-central Germany. The city has a population of just over 600,000 and consists of a combination of 11th-century half-timbered structures, 19th-century palaces and striking modern architecture. Participants in this exchange program need to have completed a minimum of five semesters of college-level German and are required to attend the month-long, intensive language program prior of the start of the semester.

Students at the University of Hannover have a variety of housing choices. The Studentenwerk Hannover offers furnished rooms in 14 different dormitories across the city. Other possibilities are rooms in communal apartments or small private apartments. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The University of Hannover offers one Purdue student per academic year a stipend which is intended to cover a portion of the recipient's living expenses during the study period. Interested students should request more information by writing to studyabroad@purdue.edu with "Hannover Stipend" in the subject line. For full consideration, students must submit all supporting documents by the dates below. Popular programs fill quickly, often before the deadline. To insure a place in a program, apply as early. As soon as a student submits an on-line application, a My Study Abroad account is created. Consult the My Study Abroad page for the specific list of requirements for the chosen program since those can differ slightly from program to program. Applicants may also check on the status of their applications. After a student is approved for a program, s/he will receive additional information regarding any necessary supplemental paperwork, including any program-specific applications, and confirmation deposits.
