| Overview | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
South Australia is a state of innovation and dynamic development, with contrasting physical environments from the spectacularly rugged Flinders Ranges in the north to the rich farmlands of the Southeast. The region is also internationally renowned for its wine growing areas: the Barossa Valley, the Clare Valley, the Southern Vales and the Coonawarra. Adelaide, the region's capital city, has a gracious "old world" feel with many outstanding stone buildings that celebrate South Australia's prosperous history. The city offers a welcoming multicultural setting with an easy going, relaxed lifestyle that is perfect for a study abroad experience. This vibrant cosmopolitan city on the banks of the River Torrens, with its wide tree-lined streets, beautiful gardens and parklands, and a Mediterranean climate, is home to about 1.2 million people. Adelaide is blessed with a stunning coastline, safe unspoiled beaches, beautiful hills, and a countryside abundant with fascinating wildlife. Boasting a unique blend of innovation, cultural festivals, fine wine, dining (Adelaide has more restaurants per head of population than any other major city in Australia), and great pubs, the city of Adelaide provides students with the ideal place to live, enjoy, and learn. The University of South Australia (UniSA) has an international reputation for educating professionals and for applied research. It is South Australia's largest university with over 26,000 students in six campuses, including a specialized technology campus. Particular importance is placed on the quality of teaching and learning programs, and on links with industry, the professions, business, and government. The university is a national leader in collaborative industry research and has been recognized nationally for the quality of its teaching and community service. UniSA also has South Australia's largest intake of international students. For more program information, please visit the program website. |
