Overview
James Cook University

Townsville is the business, industrial, cultural and administrative centre for North Queensland. A prosperous coastal city, Townsville has a culturally diverse population of around 130,000 and a sound economy built upon mining, manufacturing, industry, tourism and transportation. Major service bases for the Australian army and airforce add to the vitality of the city.

Just a few hours from Townsville lies the living miracle of the Great Barrier Reef and its islands. Some of the tropical rainforests of North Queensland are considered of such global importance as to merit World Heritage listing. The region is also noted for its magnificent beaches.

The University offers a safe, friendly environment for study. It provides all the facilities you would expect of a modern university. The academic year falls during the pleasant autumn, winter and spring months.
