Arcadia-Accademia Italiana Florence

A city of scholars, artists, and gourmets, Florence is an excellent place to appreciate Italy's language and culture. If art, design and/or fashion are your interests, the Accademia Italiana Florence program in the summer will provide you with an incomparable experience. It ranks as one of Europe's premier institutes for the study of studio art, fashion design, graphic design, interior and industrial design, and textile design. Additionally, the institution offers a variety of enrichment courses in Italian language, history, and culture.

Arcadia-Accademia Italiana Florence

The program is open to Purdue students who have completed at least two semesters of university study by the start of the program. Successful candidates will demonstrate academic success, maturity and a desire to experience another culture.

GPA Requirement: 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
Language Requirement: none

Students interested in completing courses while abroad from Purdue colleges or departments that are not listed above should discuss this with their study abroad advisor before applying to the program.

Academic Program

Program participants will receive 6 or 7 credits total for this program. Students are required to take a minimum of 6 credits (either one class worth six credits or two classes worth 3 to 4 credits each).

There are two tracks to choose from on this program, Intensive Design or Italian Language and Culture.

Students will typically live in apartments or flats with other American or international students and have access to shared kitchen facilities. In most cases, you will prepare your own meals and should be prepared for a commute to campus.

Students should carefully note what costs need to be paid to Purdue University or to a co-sponsor or agency, and what costs need to be paid at the overseas study location.  This will vary by program.

Please note: The program fee listed in the chart below includes tuition, field-study trips, health and accident insurance, an International Student Identification Card, and student support services.  The housing portion of the program fee assumes self-catered, shared accommodations.
