| Overview | |||||||||||||||||||||||
Ochanomizu University, one of only two national women's universities, was founded in Meiji 7 (1875) as a teacher training institute for women. Since achieving university status in Showa 24 (1949), the university has been committed to excellence in many fields and has achieved recognition in all areas of Japanese society through the success of its graduates. Ochanomizu's thriving international student program attracts exchange students of particularly high ability and forms a vital part of university life. At Ochanomizu University, initiative, creativity and intelligence are encouraged to allow each student to develop her identity and ability as fully as possible. As part of the international student program, students will be offered the opportunity to learn and conduct research, as well as participate in extra-curricular activities. This ensures that the skills developed will be beneficial to the student, the society, and the future. Ochanomizu University is centrally situated on a peaceful campus. The university has three faculties: Letters and Education, Science, and Human Life and Environmental Sciences. The university's small scale ensures close contact between students and professors. Students are educated in small groups, and this intimate learning environment is a key factor achieving consistently high standards. For more program information, please visit the program website. |
