RMIT University's main campus is located in Melbourne's city center, within walking distance of shops, inexpensive cafés, pubs and cinemas. The Swanston Street tram provides excellent transportation throughout the city and makes frequent stops at RMIT. Trendy Brunswick Street, known for its coffeehouses, eateries and alternative scene, is in nearby Fitzroy. Additionally, Melbourne's Little Italy is easily accessible via a short walk or quick tram ride to Lygon Street, where students can enjoy more cafés, pizzerias and other ethnic foods.

Study Australia participants will reside in self-catering, modern apartments or residential colleges with single and shared rooms.  Off-campus housing is located in the precincts of South Yarra and Richmond, both vibrent and trendy neighborhoods.

All Study Australia participants are eligible to participate in a number of excursions organized by the RMIT Education Abroad Unit and Study Australia resident directors. Popular trips include ones to Phillip Island, the Great Ocean Road, Mornington Peninsula and Wilson's Promontory.
