Tsinghua 2-Way Summer Research Internship

ATTENTION:  The application requirements for this program must be completed by March 1, 2015.  Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

The Purdue College of Engineering Office of Professional Practice is offering a team research program that takes place at both Tsinghua University and the Purdue campus during the summer of 2015:
              

May 25th- July 5th Research in China

July 6th-July 12th Travel in China

July 13th-August 14th Research at Purdue Labs


PLEASE NOTE:  This is a selective and competitive program.  Before attempting to apply online, interested students must first contact OPP (professionalpractice@purdue.edu; 765.494.7323) for information about the research projects and a discussion of the student's research interests and credentials as well as the required supporting documents to complete the program application.

Tsinghua University is one of the highest ranked universities in China and the best in the field of engineering.  Located in the northwestern suburbs of Beijing, the university was built on the site of a royal garden of the Qing Dynasty.  The university was established in 1911 and since then has developed into a comprehensive university of higher learning with faculties of science, engineering, economics, management, humanities, law and the arts.

Eligibility

Tsinghua 2-Way Summer Research Internship
Purdue students in the Forbidden City.

This program is open to the relevant College of Engineering and College of Science majors who are juniors at the time of application.

Direct credits for participants in Computer Science is subject to the approval of the department.

GPA Requirement: 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

If students complete courses while abroad from Purdue colleges that have not approved the program, they might be able to earn transfer credit for those courses. Students interested in pursuing transfer credit should discuss this with both their academic advisor and their study abroad advisor before applying to the program.

Academic Program

The Tsinghua Two-Way Summer Research Program involves 6 weeks of research in Beijing, one week of travel in China and 5 weeks back at Purdue.  Each Purdue student will be paired with a student from the host university.  The pair will work directly with faculty PIs from Purdue and Tsinghua University.

For summe 2015r, the projects to which research pairs will be assigned include:

Biomolecular Structure Analysis in Low to Medium Resolution Electron Microscopy Data Using Image Processing Techniques.

Segmenting Shared Medical Decision-Making Communication Sequence Data

In vivo Raman Spectroscopic Imaging and Analysis
