Overview
Florence is a vibrant, awe-inspiring, and culturally rich Global City. Its history as the "Cradle of the Renaissance" remains readily accessible through its art and architecture, and with an ever-growing immigrant population, Florence is very much a multicultural city. You can explore the city's expansiveness by taking a migrant tour or visiting Vivi Market to find authentic foods and ingredients from Asia, Latin America, and other regions.
You have several options when participating on this summer program in Florence:
Session I: This option runs from mid-May through mid-June (4.5 weeks), Purdue students must take two courses and earn 6 credits. Great for students who need a shorter program in the beginning of the summer.
Session II: This option runs from late June - late July, Purdue students must take two courses and earn 6 credits. Great for students who prefer a shorter program starting a bit later in the summer.
Session I + Session II: This option runs from mid-May to late-July, Purdue students must take at least one class in Session I and one class in Session II, but may choose to add an additional course in either session to earn more credits (additional fees apply). A great option for students who would prefer to take one class at a time, earn more credits, and have more time to explore Florence and surrounding areas!
Please be sure to let us know your preferred session during your application.

A variety of courses are offered including Abnormal Psychology, Italian Language, Studio Art, Food & Culture in Italy, International Marketing, and more!
Students must take a minimum of two classes to earn at least six credits. This can be done by taking two courses in a single session, or taking one class each in two sessions. Students doing two sessions may add additional classes, if desired.
Not every class is offered in both sessions, so students interested in a single session should check the CEA CAPA website to ensure course availability in their chosen session before applying.
Purdue strongly recommends students participate in both sessions, as this gives you a better course load and more time to enjoy your new city.
