Program Description
Smart Mobility in Europe will cover the latest advances in transportation in London and Paris with an emphasis on shared mobility, autonomous transportation, and electrification. Students will reflect upon real-world transportation challenges, critically analyze them and experience them across various modes. Course participants will document their findings in a journal that they will submit at the end of the course.
Below is the preliminary itinerary for May 2027 (activities may be subject to change due to availability)
May 16 - Fly from the US to London
May 17 - Arrive in London; orientation sessions, transportation passes handed out, walking tour of London, Welcome Dinner
May 18 - Guest lecture on London Transport systems, guided tour of London Underground
May 19 - Industry tour, guided bike tour of London, free evening
May 20-Visit to London St. Pancras, visit to London University, Free evening
May 21-Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, group dinner at London restaurant
May 22-Free morning in London, train to London St. Pancras International Train Station, Eurostar train from London to Paris, check into Paris hotel, orientation, transportation passes handed out, free evening
May 23-Free day in Paris
May 24-Guided walking tour of Paris, free afternoon
May 25-Industry visit, afternoon industry visit, free evening
May 26-visits to learn about Paris public transportation
May 27-Bike tour along Rue de Rivoli and Seine River
May 28-Smart mobility start up visit, visit to paris university, free evening
May 29-Free day in Paris,Farewell dinner
May 30-Free to depart any time.
**Students enrolled in the Lyles School of Civil & Construction Engineering will receive the $1,000 MOH Scholarship** (if you haven't used it previously)
Academic Credit
Earn 3 credits for CCE 49700. Please make sure to check with your academic advisor as to how this can be used in your plan of study!
Eligibility
Open to all engineering students who have reached the sophomore level and up. No students on academic notice.
Program Cost
Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.
Estimated cost of the program is estimated at $6,000. This includes hotels, all local ground transportation and transfer to Paris, breakfast daily, welcome and farewell meals, 1 group dinner, cultural activities, academic credits, and international health insurance.
ADDITIONAL COST: RT Airfare, meals, travel documents, and personal activities and expenses.

Application Deadline
Students will be accepted on a rolling basis until the program reaches capacity. There are 20 spaces available!
