Program Description
ME 27000 Basic Mechanics I in Rome! This is the same course taught on the Purdue campus. Class will be held on week days with afternoon recitation with a Purdue TA. Weekends are free for travel and exploration.
Students will stay in shared apartments in Rome (Purdue students only). Typically 4-6 students per apartment. Classes will be held at the CEA CAPA Study Center within walking distance to the Vatican and Castel Sant'Angelo. 15 minute walk to Piazza del Popolo and 25 minutes walking to the Trastevere neighborhood. A transportation pass is included in the program fees.
Cultural excursions/activities will be scheduled on free afternoons during the week and one day trip: Guided tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum, Welcome and Farewell meals, Guided walking tour of Rome, Survival Italian language workshop, Artisanal Gelato lab, day trip to Pompeii (lunch included)

May 9- Students depart the USA
May 10- Arrive in Rome, airport pick-up and transfer to apartment, free evening to rest
May 11- Orientation, guided walking tour, welcome lunch, free evening
May 12-14-9:00-12:00, lunch break, 1-2:30 recitation, free evenings
May 15-16- Free weekend
May 17-21-9:00-12:00, lunch break, 1-2:30 recitation, free evenings
May 22-23-Free weekend
May 24-28- 9:00-12:00, lunch break, 1-2:30 recitation, free evenings
May 31-June 2-9:00-12:00, lunch break, 1-2:30 recitation, free evenings
June 3- Students free to leave
Academic Credit
Earn 3 credits for ME 27000 Basic Mechanics I.
Prerequisite- PHYS 17200
Eligibility
Open to Engineering students with this course in their plan of study. All students must check with their academic advisor about how this course can be used in their plan of study.
Prerequisite: PHYS 17200. No students on academic notice will be considered.
Program Cost
Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.
Estimated cost is $5,600-$5,900- all housing, airport pick up, academic credits, Welcome and Farewell meals, all class activities, Rome transportation pass, all cultural excursions and activities on the itinerary with entrance fees, day trips, and international health insurance.
Additional expenses: Airfare, meals, Passport, Visa (if required, not for US Citizens), personal spending money, and personal travel and activities
