Overview

Reutlingen University ESB Business School

ESB Business School is part of Reutlingen University, a public university located about 30 minutes south of Stuttgart.  ESB hosts approximately 70 exchange students each year in the International Business Program (IB) where Purdue students will complete courses in English.

Student life outside the classrooms is an important part of the ESB program, and the school supports student-organized activities such as company contact fairs, public discussions and debates, relay tours, and sports and cultural events. ESB students work hard at their studies but can also enjoy a good social life at Reutlingen University.

Applicants can read about the details of this program and find additional linked resources at the website for IB Exchange Students.

Please see in the Costs section below information about the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship.

Reutlingen has more than 110,000 inhabitants and is situated close to the Swabian Alb hills, southeast of Stuttgart. Many companies active on the international market, such as Bosch, Willi Betz, Stoll, Rieber, Kullen, and Burkhardt und Weber are situated here.

There is a lot to see in the surrounding area and a great variety of leisure activities can be pursued such as hiking, sightseeing at Lichtenstein castle or climbing in the nearby climbing park. There are indoor and outdoor swimming pools in Reutlingen and neighbouring towns, as well as museums, a theatre and cinemas, which offer reduced prices for students.

A NOTE TO FALL SEMESTER APPLICANTS:  The fall semester at Reutlingen ends in early January with final exams taking place in mid-January.  The school will make special arrangements for students who have to leave in December.  Please speak to a Study Abroad advisor about these accommodations before you apply.  To be forewarned is to be forearmed!

Rent ranges from 160€ to 270€ per month.  Some of these residence halls are similar to Purdue dorms; other halls contain suites consisting of 4 to 6 single furnished rooms, a shared bath and a shared kitchen.  All rooms have internet connections, though it may not be WiFi.

Exchange students have the possibility of purchasing (30€) a starter kit that consists of a pillow, blanket and bed linens.

Estimated Program Costs

Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.

Students should carefully note what costs need to be paid to Purdue University or to a co-sponsor or agency, and what costs need to be paid at the overseas study location.  This will vary by program.

Along with the costs outlined below, students participating on exchange programs in Germany should expect to pay a semester contribution toward subsidized services at their host university.  These fees range from approximately €75 to €350 per semester and typically include a pass for regional public transportation.  See your study abroad advisor for more details.
