Program Description
                                           MAYMESTER IN LONDON and ENGLAND

The courses begin with a week of class work at Purdue that focuses on the importance of England and France in the development of modern international cultural relations. Students engage in an in-depth study of contemporary British literature, culture, history, and politics, and become familiar with the cultural, environmental, and historical layout of London and England.

Classes continue on location in England with three weeks in London and surrounding areas such as Oxford, Canterbury, Stonehenge, and Avebury, and Cornwall. Students will directly experience the setting of literary texts and areas undergoing environmental and sustainability projects, and visit sites like the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Museum of London, the National Gallery of Art, Stonehenge, Oxford, Cornwall, and more. Time in London will also be available for general sightseeing, so that students can experience Shakespeare’s Globe Theater, Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, the English countryside, etc.

Students will have one free weekend during which they can travel outside of London, and/or set their own itineraries
