Overview

University of Southampton

This exchange has been established for Purdue College of Engineering undergraduates.  The Southampton Faculty of Engineering offers specializations in acoustical; civil and environmental; mechanical; aeronautical and astronautical; and ship science.

Established with the legacy of a wealthy merchant, the Hartley Institute served as a local training institute starting in 1862. By 1952 when it was chartered by Queen Elizabeth II, the University of Southampton had evolved into a fully independent university.  Today Southampton is one of the leading institutions in the UK with a reputation for academic excellence, which in turn attracts students and researchers from all over the world.

Southampton is the largest city in the country Hampshire 75 miles southwest of London.  Situated on the south coast of England, the city is a major port. Together with the neighboring city of Portsmouth, the South Hampshire region has a population of about 1.5 million.
