Overview

IES-Shanghai: Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong
As a student in the University of Michigan –Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute, you will learn alongside other students from leading U.S. universities within the Bachelor of Science in Engineering program.
 
Students spend 13 weeks studying Mechanical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering in English at one of the top universities in China, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU).

Eligibility

IES-Shanghai: Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong

The program is open to Purdue students in good standing who have completed at least two semesters of university study by the start of the program. Successful candidates will demonstrate academic success, maturity, and a desire to experience another culture.

GPA Requirement: 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Language Requirement: none

Housing

Live with local and international students in a residence hall on the engineering campus of SJTU, in southwest Shanghai. While no meals are provided, students can eat inexpensively in the campus cafeteria or at nearby restaurants.

Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss. 

Students should carefully note what costs need to be paid to Purdue University or to a co-sponsor or agency, and what costs need to be paid at the overseas study location.  This will vary by program.

The program fee includes tuition and on-site orientation and support.
