Overview

Paris inspires newcomers with paintings in the Louvre, grand boulevards, and a skyline marked by the Eiffel Tower. Beside its monuments, other forms of art flourish: public gardens, sidewalk cafés where philosophers openly debate, and outdoor markets, fragrant with fruit and pastries.

The IES Paris Center, founded in 1962, is located just south of the Montparnasse train station on one of Paris' oldest market streets, rue Daguerre. Once the center of bohemian life and home to Picasso, Chagall, and Hemingway, Montparnasse is now also a center of business activity. From early morning till dusk, rue Daguerre is filled with shopkeepers selling their products: fruit and vegetables, cheese, wine and flowers.

After stopping to buy some fruit or pain au chocolat, students head for their classrooms on the ground floor of a modern residential building. The windows of the classrooms open onto a terrace that is used by the staff and students for impromptu gatherings.

Classes are held at the IES Center which is located in the colorful Montparnasse area within walking distance of the Latin Quarter. Facilities include offices, classrooms, a student lounge and a small library. For more program information, please visit the program website. This program is sponsored by:IES.
