Overview
When most people think of Paris, they think of iconic sights, like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Arc de Triomphe. These sites are emblems of France’s history, but today Paris is one of the most important business, financial, and political centers of the world. It has one of the highest GDPs of any city and is home to Fortune Global 500 companies that specialize in insurance, banking, and energy. As an important location in the European Union, Paris is also home to international agencies such as the European Institute for Security Studies, the OECD, and UNESCO.
Enjoy all that Paris has to offer while studying Business and International Affairs in the City of Light. If your French is at a high level, you can also enroll in an internship, which includes time spent working at your placement and an academic seminar that helps you contextualize what you’re learning.
This program offers IES Abroad courses taught by faculty from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. In addition to your IES Abroad courses, you can take English taught courses with French and international students at Paris School of Business, a business school located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.

Eligibility
The program is open to Purdue students in good standing who have completed at least two semesters of university study by the start of the program. Successful candidates will demonstrate academic success, maturity, and a desire to experience another culture.

Academic Program
IES offers unique courses that explore international business, political science, communications, French language, and more through an in-depth and hands-on approach.
While in Paris, you take 15–19 credits per semester;
All participants are required to take a French language class (4 credits) and may choose the rest of their classes from the options offered on the program:
- IES Abroad area study courses (3 credits each)
- Partner University (Paris School of Business) courses, (optional, 3 credits each)
- Internship placement and seminar (optional, 3 credits, requires advanced French)

Excursions
Excursions are subject to change.
Even though your adventure starts in Paris, IES field trips take you beyond the city to discover the culture and traditions of your host country. These trips are subsidized by IES Abroad. For an idea of possible destinations, click here.
In addition, course-related trips are organized as an integral part of IES Abroad courses and contribute to a general knowledge of French culture and society. Participation is based on course registration.
Housing
IES arranges your housing for you. The standard option on this program is a host family, though for an additional fee students may choose to live in an apartment or residence hall, subject to availability.

Estimated Program Costs
Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss. Students should carefully note what costs need to be paid to Purdue University or to a co-sponsor or agency, and what costs need to be paid at the overseas study location. This will vary by program.
Program fee includes: tuition, on-site orientation and field trips. Some options may carry additional fees, see IES website for more details.
Housing fee includes: placement with a host family, daily breakfast, and three evening meals per week. A limited number of self-catered (i.e. no meals are included) apartments are available for an additional fee. See the IES website for details. The meal cost listed is assuming students are in a homestay, students choosing other housing options should see IES website for more accurate estimate of meal costs.
