Overview
Looking for authentic Ireland? Head to the University of Galway (previously the National University of Ireland, Galway), where you can study Irish history, science, engineering, and more in the beautiful western coastal region, known for proudly preserving its language and culture. Recognized as Ireland’s capital of culture, Galway has a youthful, bohemian vibe, thanks in part to a sizable student presence.
The University dates to 1849 when Queen's College opened its doors to 63 students. Today over 16,000 students are enrolled, 13% of whom are international students from over 90 countries. The campus is located in the city center, on the banks of the Corrib River, convenient to all types of public transportation.
Galway, located on the west coast of Ireland, is the fastest-growing city in Ireland. It is renowned for its vibrant lifestyle and numerous festivals and celebrations. Due to prevailing North Atlantic winds, the climate is mild, moist and temperate year round.
