Program Description
Purdue in Mallorca (6 weeks summer course in Mallorca, Spain)
Required course: SPAN 201 (3 semesters of Spanish)
Number of courses you have to take: Two Cost: About $5,700 + flight
Housing in Palma de Mallorca with a family, 3 meals a day provided to you by your host family, laundry, WIFI, all classes at the Universidad de las Islas Baleares, excursions in and around Palma de Mallorca (Soller, Alcudia, Cabrera), insurance, airport pick up in Palma by your host family, welcome & farewell reception, access to the university facilities and resources.

Academic Credit
6 credits toward Spanish minor or major or the Spanish Minor for the Professions.
SPAN LEVEL V (SPAN 301) (satisfies UCC core requirements; counts for Spanish major, minor, and Spanish for the professions minor)
SPANISH CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION (SPAN 481) (also counts for the Spanish Minor for the professions, Spanish major, Spanish minor)
MODERNISM (SPAN 398) Counts for Spanish major, Spanish minor (but NOT the Spanish for the professions minor)
Students can gain 2 credits by completing a service-learning internship (counted as SPAN 398/498). The internship consists of teaching English as a second language to high school students two hours a week. Please contact program reader for details.
Eligibility
Purdue students who have completed SPAN 201 before the Summer semester.
All students participating in a departmental program will complete a pre and post assessment as part of program completion.
Program Cost
Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.
The estimate cost of the program is around $5,700 plus flight. This includes: Housing in Palma de Mallorca with a family, 3 meals a day provided to you by your family, laundry, WIFI, all classes at the Universidad de Islas Baleares, excursions in and around Palma de Mallorca (Soller, Can Picafort, Cabrera), insurance, airport pick up in Palma by your host family, welcome & farewell reception. Access to the university facilities and resources.
