Program Description

This program will be hosted by ESTACA. ESTACA is a French University specializing in Transportation Engineering; training engineers for careers in the Automotive, Aeronautical, Nautical, and Rail Industries. Students will stay one week on ESTACA's main campus, just west of central Paris. They will spend another week on ESTACA's campus in Laval France. The dates of the program are  May 10th- May 26th.

The goal of the Global Practice in France program is to expose students to Engineering Professional Practice in France. Students will gain an understanding of how French engineers are trained and differences in approaches to problem solving. Students will be exposed to both the academic and industrial environment and gain an understanding of the type of jobs engineers in France pursue, communication styles within the workplace, and how research and industry impact the economic and social lives of French citizens. Besides the academic and industrial component, this course will involve a cultural aspect through structured and unstructured interactions with French students and faculty, visits to culturally important sites, and the opportunities to live in a major French city and a smaller French town.  This program will be made possible with support from ESTACA.

The program will include short engineering projects with French students, visits to research labs, visits to cultural sites, and industry visits to French companies like Airbus.
