Program Description
This course will focus on how materials science is integrating with biology to lead the medical devices. Lectures will be given during weekday morning and visits to labs and universities in Spain. Students will spend time in Barcelona and Seville, Spain. Students will have evenings and weekends free for exploration of your host cities. Some additional activities include: Tapas Cooking Class, Flamenco Workshop and Show, and a cultural activity with Spanish students.

Academic Credit

3 credits available for MSE 49700, check with your academic adviser for how this credit can be used in your plan of study. BME students will receive credit for MSE 527. Has been approved as a Tech Elective for MSE and ME.


Must be at least a finishing sophomore in Engineering, Science, or other related major. All acceptance decisions will be made by Dr. Stanciu. Students must be in good academic standing. Contact Dr. Stanciu if you are unsure of your eligibility.

Program Cost

Estimated program cost is $2272 (if you have the Purdue Moves Scholarship available) plus air, some meals, travel documents, and personal spending money. Program fees include: Housing, ground transportation, some meals, excursions and cultural activities, a few meals, insurance, and 3 credits.
