Eligibility

This program is open to Purdue students who have completed at least three semesters of university study (or the equivalent) completed at time of application. Successful candidates will demonstrate academic success, maturity and a desire to experience another culture.

Some of the DIS courses have prerequisites. Students should check the syllabi on the DIS website for specifics.

 

GPA Requirement: 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Language Requirement: none

Direct Credit available from the following: [College of Agriculture][College of Liberal Arts][Krannert School of Management][College of Health and Human Sciences]

If students complete courses while abroad from Purdue colleges that have not approved the program, they might be able to earn transfer credit for those courses. Students interested in pursuing transfer credit should discuss this with both their academic advisor and their study abroad advisor before applying to the program.

Academic Program

Students must participate in a minimum of at least two sessions (sessions I & II, sessions II & III, or sessions I, II & III).

Estimated Program Costs

Students should carefully note what costs need to be paid to Purdue University or to a co-sponsor or agency, and what costs need to be paid at the overseas study location.  This will vary by program.

The program fee below is for Sessions I and II and includes: Full tuition and fees; insurance; rental of a complete set of textbooks & photocopied handouts; all field study events; use of DIS facilities, including library and computer labs; and study tours as described in the individual program "chapters" on the DIS website.

 Possible additional fees:

  • Session II and III: $2,275
  • Session I, II and III: $5,075 (+ $305 study abroad fee)

There is an additional $500 discount for participation in all three DIS summer sessions.
