Program Description
This course is designed to provide students with a first-hand look at the role of microbes in the production of various commercial products including enzymes, pharmaceuticals, foods, and commodity chemicals. Germany is a choice location based on its history in food fermentations and expertise in anaerobic digestion of agricultural residues. This course has been offered twice and student feedback was highly positive.
Academic Credit
3 credits in ABE 49500.
Pre-requisites: ABE 202, BCHM 307, or CHE 211
Eligibility
This program is open to Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, and Food Science - or other applicable majors. Students must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and be in good standing with the university.

Program Cost
Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.
Cost TBD: This includes: All housing, academic credits, ground transportation in Germany, Breakfast daily, Welcome and Farewell Meals, all activities listed on the itinerary, and international health insurance.
Additional Costs: Round trip airfare, passport, meals, personal excursions and personal spending money.
