Program Description

Is ME 352-Machine Design I in your Plan of Study? 

Professor Jitesh Panchal will be teaching ME 35200, Machine Design in Prague, Czech Republic in May 2019.  This is the same course you would take here on the Purdue campus. Class will be held each week day from 9:30am-12:00pm.  Labs will be held each weekday afternoon from 2:00-4:30.  Evenings and weekends are free.  

Many great locations are just a short train ride from Prague such as :  Bohemian Switzerland, South Moravia Wine Region, Vienna Austria, Olomouc, Pilsner Urquell Brewery, Kutna Hora, and Dresden Germany, among many others.  You also won't want to miss the sobering Terezin Concentration Camp where prisoners were held until they were shipped to Auschwitz.  

Tentative Itinerary: 

May 6th- Depart the USA

May 7th- Arrive in Prague 

May 8th- Orientation, City Tour, Welcome dinner

May 9th 10th- 9:30-12:00 class 2:00-4:30 lab

May 11th-12th- Free weekend

May 13th-17th- Daily Class and Lab

May 18th-19th- Free weekend 

May 20th-24th-Daily class and Lab

May 25th-26th-Free weekend

May 27th-31st- Daily Class and Lab

June 1st and 2nd- Free weekend 

June 3rd- Last Class Session-Farewell Dinner

June 4th- Free to depart anytime

 Other items included are:  Airport pick up in Prague, a guest lecture on Czech History, a theater or ballet performance, Strahov Monastery & Brewery, and a transportation pass. 



Academic Credit

Earn 4 credits for successful completion of the course and lab for ME 35200.   Letter grades will be assigned. 

Please check with your academic advisor about your eligibility.  


You must have reached the junior level or higher in ME and be in good standing with the university (No academic Probation) 

This course is for those students for whom ME 352 is a required course in their plan of study.  Acceptance decisions will be made by Prof. Panchal. 

Program Cost

Estimated program cost is $4,000.  This includes 4 credits, all housing, 2 dinners, monthly transportation pass, 1 guest lecture, Strahov Monastery & Brewery tour, Theater, ballet, or other cultural event, Prague city tour, orientation, 24 hour on-site assistance, airport pick up on May 7th, and international Health Insurance.  

Additional Costs:  Airfare, meals, passport, (visa for non-US citizens), personal spending money, personal travel.   

Please check your eligibility for the Purdue Moves Scholarship HERE   Amount from $500-$1500 are available.  You MUST have a current FAFSA on file to qualify.  International students are not eligible.
