Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, has a rich history influenced by more than 800 years of Danish settlement. Copenhagen is rare in that it combines the economic, scientific, and cultural life of a modern city with a relaxed, small town atmosphere.
Copenhagen is the seat of Danish Parliament, the central government, international organizations, research libraries, national museums of art and history, and the national media. It is the center of musical and cultural life. Students may take advantage of the city's superior transportation system to get around town. Trains and buses run day and night.
DIS administrative and classroom buildings are located in the heart of Medieval Copenhagen. Facilities include but are not limited to a reference and student library, student lounges, computer labs, a student information desk, and student support services.

Each of the AD programs forms an integrated whole, in which studio work, lecture, seminar and comparative field project courses, field work in Copenhagen, and study tours in Europe combine to give students a thorough understanding of and inspiration from the theory, aesthetics, methodology, and actual works of contemporary Scandinavian and European architects and designers.
The AD programs place great emphasis on experiencing prime examples of architecture and design hands-on. Therefore, they include a number of field study visits in Copenhagen as well as program-related study tours in Denmark and Scandinavia. The AD study tours are included in the over program fee and introduce you to Danish and Scandinavian historical and modern buildings, interiors, restoration projects. See the DIS website for more details on the length of the trips and destination.
