Program Description

Join Professor Chuck Krousgrill in Florence, Italy for May 2020!  He will be teching ME 27000 Basic Mechanics I.  This is the same core Engineering course offered on the Purdue campus.  

Program highlights include:  Day trip to Pisa and Lucca, Day trip to Siena, Leonardo Museum,  and a guest lecture on Leonardo's Inventioins, Florence Art History & Practical Guided Walking Tours. These will be scheduled after class in the afternoons and evenings as availability allows. 

Proposed itinerary: 

May 10- Depart USA for Florence 

May 11-Arrive in Florence, airport pick-up provided, check into housing (shared apartments with others in the class) 

May 12- Orientation, City Tour, Welcome Meal 

May 13-15-Class 9am-12pm 

May 16-17- Free weekend 

May 18-22- Class 9am-12pm

May 23-24-Free weekend 

May 25-29-Class 9am-12pm 

May 30-31-Free weekend 

June 1-4- Class 9am-12pm 

June 5- Final Exam, Farewell meal 

June 6- Students are free to depart 

 

 

 

Academic Credit

Receive 3 credits for ME 27000 Basic Mechanics I

Eligibility

Open to all Engineering students who are required to take ME 27000 in their Plan of Study.  Check with your academic advisor if you are unsure how this course will fit into your plan of study.  Students must be in good academic standing.  No students on academic probation.  

 

Program Cost

Estimated program cost: $3900 which includes all housing (shared apartments in the city), academic credits, at least 2 cultural excursions, lecture on Italian History and Culture, airport pick up upon arrival, Welcome and Farewell meals, Florence city tour, and Internaional Health Insurance. 

Additional expenses:  Round trip airfare, meals, passport, Visa (for non-US citizens), personal activities and spending money.

Application Deadline

Students will be accepted on a rolling basis until program reaches capacity.  24 spots available.  Professor Krousgrill makes all acceptance deccisions.
