Program Description

This exchange program is designed to provide veterinary students as well as clinical and anatomic pathology residents with hands-on experience of wildlife medicine, using the socially and environmentally comprehensive One Health approach. Students will have the opportunity to engage with local specialists in veterinary medicine and wildlife conservation while experiencing the beauty of one of South America’s most unique areas, rich in biodiversity and social culture. Purdue students will be joined by 3-4 Brazilian students for a 2-week program focused on wildlife management, internal medicine, as well as clinical and anatomic pathology of Brazilian wildlife. Each day will include an activity exploring the social and biological features unique to the region and a teaching lecture to synthesize and complement the day’s experience.
