Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) was founded in 1980 and is the only design school in Italy accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education. NABA instructors are world-renowned artists, professionals, and designers working in Milan. NABA’s teaching method stresses cultural, theoretical, and practical aspects of design and seeks to put students in constant contact with companies and professionals. NABA’s summer program offers students a synthesis of NABA expertise in the Design, Fashion, and Visual & Digital Arts fields under the guidance of, and collaboration with, professionals in the field. Students are immersed in Italy’s thriving creative community through visits to museums, companies, production facilities, and design studios. The program is open to Purdue students in good standing who have completed at least two semesters of university study by the start of the program. Academic Program | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
SAI offers two 4-week summer sessions at NABA, each with different start dates and course options: Summer I and Summer II. In both 4-week sessions, students enroll in two back-to-back 2-week courses, each worth 3 credits. A 6-week Summer III session is also offered, where students enroll in three back-to-back 2-week courses, each worth 3 credits. For more information on classes and dates, please see the SAI website. |

The program includes an array of cultural activities and includes visits to museums, companies, production facilities, and design studios, as well as some day trips. |

Housing | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
Students will live in SAI student apartments. The apartments have shared bedrooms (with options to upgrade to a private bedroom if available, for an extra fee). Typical apartments are fully furnished, house 2-8 students and have shared living, kitchen, and bathroom areas. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss. Students should carefully note what costs need to be paid to Purdue University or to a co-sponsor or agency, and what costs need to be paid at the overseas study location. This will vary by program. The program fee includes: tuition, housing for 4 weeks, airport pick-up on arrival, on-site orientation, cultural activities and excursions, and insurance. Please note costs will reflect the 4-week program, students interested in the 6-week program should contact a study abroad advisor for additional costs.
