Overview

CIEE's Arts & Sciences' program is at Yonsei University, the most prestigious private institution of higher education in Korea. Packed with people, it’s no wonder Seoul is the capital and largest city in South Korea. A vibrant business and financial hub, Seoul also brims with culture, with more than 100 museums, numerous religious monuments, parks, markets, festivals, sports teams, and the Gyeongbok and Changdeok palaces.

Eligibility

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: If you hold a passport from a non-OECD country, you will have an additional requirement for enrolling at Yonsei University, and will need to complete your application early to ensure receiving your Certificate of Enrollment in a timely manner. Please reach out to Oksana (omaksimov@purdue.edu) if you have questions. 

The program is open to Purdue students in good standing who have completed at least two semesters of university study by the start of the program. Successful candidates will demonstrate academic success, maturity, and a desire to experience another culture.

Academic Program

Students will enroll in 4-5 classes at Yonsei University. More information about academics can be found on the CIEE website.

Excursions

  • See the notorious Korean Demilitarized Zone.
  • Relish the natural beauty of a national park.
  • Get a taste of family life with a short homestay of one or two nights. Visit Nami Island, a half-moon shaped island that is popular with tourists all year round
  • Tour ancient palaces while wearing a hanbok, traditional Korean costume
  • Enjoy CIEE K-pop/ Indie Concerts

Housing

Housing is included in the program fee. Housing options include a twin dorm room on campus or a single room in a residence hall off campus.

Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss. 

Students should carefully note what costs need to be paid to Purdue University or to a co-sponsor or agency, and what costs need to be paid at the overseas study location.  This will vary by program.

The program and housing fees include tuition, housing, on-site orientation, and cultural activities and excursions.
