Overview
University of Lapland

University:  The University of Lapland was established in 1979 and currently enrolls about 4,200 students in five faculties:  Art & Design, Business & Tourism, Education, Law and Social Sciences. 

Interested students can consult the University of Lapland Fact Sheet to read about the academic calendar, cost of living, accommodations and orientation activities.  A list of departments offering courses in English is also available.

Location:  Rovaniemi (population 58,000) is the capital of Finland's Lapland province.

Purdue Art & Design majors who have reached at least a sophomore standing by the start of the program are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will demonstrate academic success, maturity and a desire to experience another culture.

GPA Requirement: 2.75 on a 4.0 scale

If students complete courses while abroad from Purdue colleges that have not approved the program, they might be able to earn transfer credit for those courses. Students interested in pursuing transfer credit should discuss this with both their academic advisor and their study abroad advisor before applying to the program.

Housing

The University arranges accommodation for all incoming international students. A majority of students live in shared apartments administered by Domus Arctica, a private accommodations agency.
