Program Description

This course will serve to enhance students professional development and prepare course participants for careers in the tech industry and Silicon Valley. This is an embedded Spring 2023 course with travel over spring break to network with employers and Purdue alumni in Silicon Valley.  Students will complete assignments to enhance their professional skills and have the benefit of hearing from several industry speakers to develop an understanding of how to successful compete for opportunities in the tech industry.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM REQUIRES REGISTERING FOR A SPRING 2023 ON-CAMPUS COURSE (meet once per week virtually) WITH TRAVEL DURING SPRING BREAK*

March 11- Group flight to San Francisco, Airport pick-up, Welcome dinner

March 12- Alcatraz Island tour,  Free evening to explore San Francisco.

March 13-17- Multiple company visits (at least 2 per day) such as:  Lucid Motors, Zoox, Jobi Aviation, OmniVis, SVBIG,  panel discussions, and Purdue Alumni interactions.                  I

March 18- Group flight and return to Purdue campus

*STUDENTS WILL NEED TO SUBMIT A RESUME AND COVER LETTER ON THEIR MY STUDY ABROAD PAGE AFTER APPLYING AS PART OF THE APPLICATION PROCESS.  THE COVER LETTER SHOULD DESCRIBE WHY YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM AND HOW YOU THINK IT WILL HELP YOU WITH YOUR FUTURE CAREER GOALS.  

   

                   


Academic Credit

This is a (1) credit spring 2023 course with embedded spring break travel.  Earn (1) credit for ENGR 10300.  You will need to speak to your academic advisor to see how it can be used in your plan of study. 

Eligibility

Open to all Engineering students. Students on academic probation will not be considered.

Program Cost

Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.

Estimated cost is approximately $3,000 Cost includes:  Round Trip Group flight, airport transfers in California,  all hotels, breakfast daily, all ground transportation, all activities on the itinerary, Welcome dinner, academic credit, and health insurance.

Additional costs:  Meals, personal activities, and personal spending money. 

**There is no financial obligation to apply.  Students are not obligated financially until acceptance and a deposit is made later in Fall 2022**

 

Application Deadline

Students need to apply by October 30, 2022.  Deposits due November 20, 2022
