Program Description
Join Prof. Andres Arrieta in beautiful Singapore!
The purpose of this program is to introduce bioinspired principles as a source of engineering design and functionality and to inspire multidisciplinary thinking and intercultural perspective as a tool for working in diverse and international settings. The course methodology includes lectures introducing bioinspiration for engineering design and a series of case studies illustrating bioinspired solutions for improved engineering systems.

Class held daily with visits to: MacRitchie Rservoir Hike, Botanical Gardens, Kampong Glam and Arab Street, Masjid Sultan Mosque, Night Safari, Chopsticks tutorial and cooking class, Nanyang Technical University (NTU) Hive and student gardens, School of At, Design, and Media Building (grass roof), lab visits at NTU, Natural History Museum, Wetlands in Singapore, ArtScience Museum (Lotus Flower), Gardens by the Bay and Marina Barrage, Changi Jewel, and Little India.
Academic Credit
Students will earn 3 credits for ME 49700. This is a Tech Elective for ME students. Students in other majors will need to check with their academic advisor to see how this course can be used in their plan of study.
Eligibility
Students in any Engineering major who have reached sophomore status through seniors. Students on academic probation will not be considered. Students in related majors such as Biology are also welcome to apply.
**Please note that vaccination and boosters against COVID 19 may be required for entry to Singapore. Please plan accordingly**
Program Cost
Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.
The estimated cost is $4500.00 Price includes: Academic credits, all housing, ground transportation in country, all activities on the itinerary, breakfast daily, Welcome and Farewell dinner, and International Health Insurance.
Additional costs: Round-trip airfare, most lunches and dinners, Passport, personal activities, and personal spending money.
