Program Description
The Purdue Young Institute for Advanced Manufacturing of Pharmaceuticals is engaging with the Irish National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Technology (NIBRT) to develop a joint program for workforce development and R&D for the life sciences manufacturing industry. Students will also spend time at the University College Dublin (UCD). Ireland is well known for manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, and these two institutions have strong reputation and connections with industry, making them a natural fit for this program.
Enjoy a mix of cultural activities, academic and company visits, and the beauty of Ireland.
*Please note the group flight departs from Chicago on Friday, March 10. You must be able to leave campus by 3:00pm.
Preliminary Itinerary (subject to change)
March 10- Depart Purdue- Group flight from Chicago O'Hare
March 11- Arrive Dublin- Group Transfer to hotel
March 12- Tour of Kilmainham Gaol, Book of Kells, Irish Emigration Museum and evening Welcome dinner and show at Taylors Three Rock in Dublin
March 13-All day activities and academic sessions at University College Dublin (UCD) and the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT)
March 14- All day activities and academic sessions at University College Dublin (UCD) and the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT)
March 15- All day activities and academic sessions at University College Dublin (UCD) and the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT)
March 16- Site visits to local companies and academic activities
March 17- St. Patrick's Day- Free day- Watch Purdue Band in the Parade, late afternoon motor coach transfer to hotel near the Cliffs of Moher area
March 18- Cliffs of Moher visit along with other tourist sites in the area, Farewell dinner.
March 19- Return to Purdue via group flight to Chicago O'Hare
Academic Credit
1 credit of ChE 49500. Students must contact their academic advisor as to how this can be used their Plan of Study
Eligibility
This program is open to students in Chemical Engineering, Industrial and Physical Pharmacy, Chemistry, and ABE (concentration in Pharmacy). Preference will be given to Juniors and Seniors, but Sophomores are welcome to apply and may be admitted on a case by case basis.

Program Cost
Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.
The current estimated price is $3,200 which includes the group flight, all hotels, all ground transportation in Ireland, breakfast daily, two dinners, cultural excursions on the itinerary, and international health insurance.
Additional expenses: Meals, Passport, Visa (if necessary, no for US Citizens), and personal spending money and activities.
Application Deadline
Students will be accepted on a rolling basis until the program reaches capacity. Maximum 16 spots are available
