Program Description
South Korea has the 10th-largest economy in the world! It is known for having one of the worlds’ best digital infrastructures according to the World Economic Forum. This is largely driven by having high-quality workforce with the DNA of innovation. Koreans have the highest percentage (70%!) of college graduates Aged 25-34, tying Ireland, which is a medical device hub of Europe. It is known as the most innovative country in Asia according to 2021 Bloomberg innovation index. Although well-known globally for their exports of consumer electronics (LG, Samsung) and automobile (Hyundai, Kia), Korean biotech industry is also growing rapidly with trillion-dollar investments in biopharmaceuticals and medical devices. Of course, the recent success in managing the effects of COVID-19 pandemic has helped bolster Korea’s image as one of the leading nations in infectious disease management as well. We will lead a week-long trip to Seoul, Korea to learn more about their wonderfully futuristic culture by partnering with one of the leading Korean universities, Hanyang University. We will learn more about their food, visit historic sites, and tour K-POP industry.
