Program Description

Experience the historic and cultural richness of Ireland.  The program will focus on several different Sports Medicine topics and techniques dealing with the care of athletic injuries.  Dublin City University will be the hub for gaining  a hands-on learning experience about the history and science of these techniques and practices.  We will visit many of the important cultural and historic sites throughout Ireland over the duration of the program.  For additional observational experiences and sightseeing, travel will include day trips to Northern Ireland, Galway, and Cork with an overnight trip to the Ring of Kerry/Dingle.

Eligibility

All Purdue students, in good standing with the university, are eligible to participate in the program.  This year we are able to take 30 students.  In the event interest in the program exceed capacity, first preference will be given to students from the Department of Health and Kinesiology and College of Health and Human Sciences.

All students participating in a departmental program will complete a pre and post assessment as part of program completion.

Program Cost

Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.

The total cost is currently estimated to be between $3,000 and $3,500.  This includes roundtrip flight from Chicago into Dublin, all accomodations, educational content, all excursions/tour outside Dublin, local transportation, breakfast, and lunches while in Dublin.  NOT included are most dinners (to allow flexibility), lunches while out on tour days, souvenirs, and any incidentals (such as laundry).
