Overview

Tec de Monterrey: iSummerMx Business and Economics Programs

The iSummerMx Programs are an innovative, experiential learning academic option designed for International students who love traveling and learning about new cultures while visiting different Tec de Monterrey campuses in different cities, such as Mexico City, Puebla, Queretaro, Guadalajara, and/or Monterrey.

Students can choose from two different, 6-credit programs taught in English:

  1. Global Business
  2. Regional Economics

The programs are enriched with special activities such as field trips, company visits, and networking events that will make their experience unforgettable, creating everlasting memories, exercising their intellectual curiosity, and developing entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership skills in a multicultural setting.

Eligibility

Tec de Monterrey: iSummerMx Business and Economics Programs

The program is open to Purdue students in good standing who have completed at least two semesters of university study by the start of the program. Successful candidates will demonstrate academic success, maturity, and a desire to experience another culture.

GPA Requirement: 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
Language Requirement: none

Students interested in completing courses while abroad from Purdue colleges or departments that are not listed above should discuss this with their study abroad advisor before applying to the program.


Academic Program

REGIONAL ECONOMICS:

Analyze the effects generated by the development and economic growth of a country, based on real and nominal macroeconomic variables. Students travel to Mexico City, Puebla, Queretaro, Puebla, and Guadalajara and take:

  • Macroeconomics and Economic Development
  • Micro Economic Incentives and Macro Outcomes

GLOBAL BUSINESS:

Identify business opportunities in international markets and develop value proposals to help enterprises thrive in a specific international context. Students travel to Mexico City, Puebla, Queretaro, and Monterrey and take:

  • Business Globalization
  • Marketing Insight to Develop Strategies


Estimated Program Costs

Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.
 
Students should carefully note what costs need to be paid to Purdue University or to a co-sponsor or agency, and what costs need to be paid at the overseas study location.  This will vary by program.
The Program Fee includes: housing, transportation for program activities, airport pickup, breakfast six days a week, program activities, and health insurance.
