Program Description

Join Prof. Chuck Krousgrill in beautiful Prague, Czech Republic for ME 27000 Basic Mechanics I.   This is the same course offered on the Purdue West Lafayette campus, just taught in a condensed format.  Prague is centrally located in Europe and many wonderful destinations are just a train ride away!

This course is open to any Purdue Engineering student that has this course in their plan of study.  Students must check with their academic advisor to make sure they have completed all prerequisites. 

A Purdue TA will also travel with the group to assist with classes, homework, and study sessions. 

**Cultural excursions and day trips will be scheduled during non-class times-TBD

May 5-Depart USA

May 6-Arrive in Prague, Airport pick-up provided, transfer to housing (shared apartments)

May 7-Orientation, Prague walking tour, Welcome meal, Free evening

May 8-10-Class 9am-12pm each week day, lunch, homework and study time, free evening

May 11-12-Free weekend

May 13-17- Class 9am-12pm each week day, lunch, homework and study time, free evening

May 18-19-Free weekend

May 20-24-Class 9am-12pm each week day, lunch, homework and study time, free evening

May 25-26-Free weekend

May 27-30-Class 9am-12pm each week day, lunch, homework and study time, free evening

May 31-Final exam, Farewell dinner

June 1- students free to leave any time (Housing check out is 11am)


Academic Credit

Earn 3 credits for ME 27000.  This is a core engineering course in ME.  Several other Engineering schools also have this course in their plan of study and students must check with their academic advisors about how it can be used in their personal plan of study.  

Students must have successfully completed all prerequisites prior to departure.  If you are  unsure of the academic content, please email Prof. Krousgrill.

Program Cost

Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.

Cost is $4317 which includes:  All housing, airport pick-up, local transportation pass, Welcome and Farewell dinners, all excursions and day trips on the itinerary, academic credits, and international insurance.

Additional cost: RT Airfare, personal spending money, passport, visa (if necessary), and meals. 

Students will be housed in Shared apartments with fully equipped kitchens.

Students will be accepted on a rolling basis until the program is full. 20 spots available
