Boost your global fluency and cultural competence with our Maymester 2025 Study Abroad Program titled "Experience Taiwan: Language, Culture, and Global Teamwork." From May 10 through May 24, students will be hosted by National Taiwan Normal University's (NTNU) Mandarin Training Center in Taipei, and will experience a specialized two-week, 3 credit course focused on Business Chinese, etiquette, and global teamwork which covers essential vocabulary, conversational and grammatical structures, and insider perspectives on East Asian corporate culture.
As part of the immersive cultural experience, students will have a chance to network with language volunteers and peers from NTNU, enhancing their real-world language usage and cultural insights. The morning language classes are complemented by afternoon and weekend excursions, including visits to local night markets, museums, and companies, as well as short trips to renowned Taiwanese landmarks.

Academic Credit
CHNS 490: Special Topics In Chinese Language and Culture (3 credits)
CHNS 490 can be used as an elective for Chinese majors and minors, Asian American Studies minors, and humanities elective.
Eligibility
Open to all students at Purdue University
All students participating in a departmental program will complete a pre and post assessment as part of program completion.
Program Cost
Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.
This program provides a partial scholarship from the HuayuBest program allowing for an estimated cost of $1700.
This estimated cost includes local ground transportation, housing, all breakfasts and lunches, course materials, field trips, study abroad fee, insurance, and 3 credits of Purdue tuition. (Students are responsible for airfare and dinners.)

Application Deadline
Due December 13, 2024, or until the class is full. Acceptance on a rolling-basis.
