Highlights of the trip will include exploration of Afro-Portuguese history and culture in the areas of art, music dance, religion, politics, and media as well as other elements that will foster a deeper understanding of the African Diaspora not only in Portugal but from a global perspective. Some points of interest are as follows: Calouste Gulbenkeian Museum, Cascais, Castelo dos Mouros, the Couva da Roca, Sintra, Quinta da Regaleira, Sao Jorge Castle as well as lectures on Afro-Portuguese history and music, workshops on Moorish tile-making.
