Program Description

This class provides active learning experiences to introduce students to Australian transportation infrastructure and systems. Students will see construction and operational activities involved in integrating the region’s airport, train, bus, subway, ferry, pedestrian, and bicycle infrastructure. Supply chain logistics will be addressed during site visits to major ports. Of particular note is the ongoing transportation system preparation and upgrades in Brisbane for the 2032 Olympics.  Experience with public transportation systems and cultural experiences are highlighted in each city.  Throughout the trip, students have opportunities to observe how transportation systems and supply chains have evolved and understand the integration between Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, Construction, and Aerospace Engineering in the operation of complex transportation systems.  Three credits will be awarded for this course.
