Program Description
This course aims to train students starting from the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics to understand how they can be leveraged for building quantum hardware and software, so that they can contribute to move this emerging technology forward with applications in artificial intelligence and data sciences. No prior knowledge of quatum computing is necessary but there are prerequisites so please check before you apply.

May 11- Depart the USA
May 12- Arrive Barcelona, airport pick-up included, apartment check-in, free evening to rest (students will be housed in shared apartments with other Purdue students)
May 13-Orientation, Barcelona City tour, Welcome meal, free evening
May 14- 16- Daily class 9am-12pm, afternoon study sessions, free evening
May 17-18-Free weekend
May 19-23-Daily class 9am-12pm, afternoon study sessions, free evening (Additional cultural excursions will be scheduled during afternoon/evening hours)
May 24-25-Free weekend
May 26-30- Daily class 9am-12pm, afternoon study sessions, Farewell meal on the 30th
May 31- Students free to leave any time (Housing check out is 10am)
**Additional activities proposed: Tapas workshop, guest lecture on the history of Catalonia, day-trip to winery and olive oil production facility, and one other cultural event TBD
**Students will be housed in shared apartments. Typically there are 2-3 per bedroom, 4-8 students per apartment. Fully equipped kitchens and laundry on-site. Purdue students only in the apartments.
Academic Credit
Earn 3 credits for ECE 59500. Prerequisites: Linear Algebra. All students must check with their acadmic advisor as to how this can be used their plan of study.
Eligibility
Open to all Engineering students, CS, Physics, and related majors. Prerequisites: Linear Algebra. All students must check with their academic advisors to determine how this course can be used in their plan of study.
All students participating in a departmental program will complete a pre and post assessment as part of program completion.
Program Cost
Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.
Estimated cost is $4,800 which includes: Apartment (shared with other Purdue students), airport pick-up upon arrival, Welcome and Farewell meals, public transportation pass for entire time in Barcelona, City tour, Tapas workshop, Day Excursion to Winery and Olive Oil production facility, Guest lecture on the history of Catalonia, all class activities, 3 academic credits, and international health insurance.
Additional costs: Airfare, meals (kitchens are fully equipped for cooking), Passport, Visa (if necessary), personal travel and personal spending money.
Application Deadline
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until 20 spots have been filled.
