Program Description

**All eligible participants can receive a need-based, Purdue Global Leaps scholarship, of up to $1,500**

The GO GREEN (Green Organizations: Global Responsibility for Economic and Environmental Necessity) program is a short-term study abroad program designed to expose you to issues of environmental sustainability in the French and German contexts. GO GREEN not only addresses sustainable practices; the program also emphasizes the cultural, political, and business aspects of environmental sustainability. In general, EU member countries tend to be more advanced in terms of their sustainable practices when compared to the US. France and Germany specifically provide excellent examples of this because of their focus on national sustainable policies as well as their political and economic prominence within the EU.

The program is suitable for both undergraduate and graduate students of any discipline.

All course programming is conducted in English; no foreign language skills are required.

Tentative Program Itinerary

The locations we have selected for this trip provide you with a connection to the local history and culture of the host country. In addition, they highlight issues of sustainability and climate change. For example, Grotte Cosquer is inaccessible due to prehistoric sea level rise, requiring us to ask ourselves how modern sea level rise contributes to the loss of culturally important sites. Additionally, some of the sites we visit have offices or locations in Indiana (e.g. Roche, Freudenberg).
