Program Description
IDIS 49100: Advanced Global Leadership in the Dominican Republic and Panama (May 11-May 23, 2026)
This 3-credit course for all majors focuses on developing advanced global leadership skills essential for today's workforce. Students will work with their host-country peers to solve real-world challenges, explore models of global leadership, and learn how local businesses can empower communities. We will also experience the beauty of the Dominican Republic and Panama through exciting historical and cultural visits.
Student Outcomes: Learn about effective models of global leadership
- Develop global leadership skills in the following competency areas: Effective Communication, Reflective Problem-Solving, Initiative, Professionalism, and Collaboration
- Build connections with host-country peers
- Grow in intercultural competencies
- Reflect on how to apply global leadership and intercultural skills to future roles & careers

Program Cost
Students pursuing program participation accept financial responsibility. Purdue will take measures to mitigate financial risks, although will not be liable for loss.
Estimated Costs: $1800: Includes credits, accommodations, in-country transportation, and excursions. This estimate does not include international airfare, passport and visa fees, most meals, and spending money.
Note: We will have a finalized Program Fee by December 15.
